Manchester United will offer Anthony Martial in exchange for Jerome Boateng, according to reports in Germany. Martial wants to leave United this summer after a breakdown in his relationship with Jose Mourinho. The United boss has told the club Martial can be offloaded, with the Frenchman seemingly edging closer to a transfer every day.
Bild claim United plan to use Martial as bait to land a world class centre-back this summer. Bayern Munich star Boateng is eager for a new challenge and has attracted the attention of the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, as well as United. Despite United’s plan, Bayern will reject the approach as they only want to sell Boateng.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed Munich do not want to overload on wide men and do not see Martial as a viable option this summer. ‘We have four wingers: (Franck) Ribery, (Arjen) Robben, (Kingsley) Coman and (Serge) Gnabry,’ said Rummenigge ‘And Davies comes in January. Adding more would cause problems for the coach.’

Bayern would be interested in Martial next summer, but it seems United’s efforts to lure Boateng to England this month will be thwarted. United can sign Boateng if they meet Bayern’s asking price which is currently set at around £49million. PSG are leading the race for Boateng having been in talks with Bayern for several weeks, although no club has made an official offer for the Germany international.
